Shahid Online – Ne Zha 2 has taken the global box office by storm, shattering records and surpassing some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters. In just 10 days, Ne Zha 2 has amassed a staggering $1.05 billion (approximately Rp 17.1 trillion), marking it as one of the fastest-grossing animated films of all time.
According to Bloomberg, the film dethroned The Battle at Lake Changjin (2010), which previously held the title for the highest-grossing film in China. The movie, released in late January 2025, saw an explosive surge in ticket sales, making it a major contender in the international film industry.
Ne Zha 2’s momentum hasn’t slowed down. The film has already reached $1.6 billion (Rp 26 trillion) in box office revenue, according to Artisan Gateway. Notably, the film contributed $22 million to IMAX’s total weekend earnings in China, marking a 21% increase from the previous weekend.

Ne Zha 2 has also become the highest-grossing IMAX release in China, surpassing Avengers: Endgame, which previously held the record at $83.5 million. As of Sunday, the film’s IMAX earnings reached $104 million ($106 million by Monday), making it only the 16th film in history to cross the $100 million mark in IMAX box office revenue.
Additionally, its $22 million IMAX earnings over the weekend rank as the third-highest global IMAX earnings for a film in its third weekend, following Avengers: Infinity War and Avatar: The Way of Water.
With its massive success, Ne Zha 2 is now on track to enter the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time, potentially surpassing The Lion King. It has already secured its place as the second highest-grossing animated film in history, just behind Inside Out 2, which earned $1.69 billion.
Variety reports that Ne Zha 2 now holds the record for the highest-grossing film within a single market, a title previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.7 million in North America in 2015).
The unprecedented success of Ne Zha 2 highlights the immense potential of the Chinese film market, further proving that Hollywood studios and global distributors must take China’s box office power seriously. As the film continues its international rollout, its earnings are expected to rise even higher, cementing its place as one of the most successful animated films in history.
